Pink Oyster Mushrooms
Houdini/Solaris/Karma/Nuke
A breakdown of my procedural geometry project I made while studying FX at Lost Boys. This ended up being a very fun, and VEX-heavy project. The project consisted of building a base mushroom-making HDA, and then using that HDA to match the reference as closely as possible.
Hidden City
Houdini/Mantra/Adobe After Effects
A procedural city inspired by Liguria, Italy. Done procedurally in Houdini, and combined with live action footage. Responsible for concept and execution of all aspects of the project except for the live action footage, which was filmed by Matt Warren.
Escher Loop
Houdini
Simulation experiment with Velum grains and camera-projection mapping. All done in Houdini/Mantra. Responsible for all parts apart from the hero asset, and the projected image.
Guardian Demon
Maya
A character design/model that I did in Maya. The idea behind the character was to imagine how the guardian angel of a painfully normal human being would look like. The design is inspired, in part, by the green clowns from Slava Polunin's Snowshow.
Izbushka
Maya
One of my first ever projects in Maya. The goal was to model and animate a "character" from Russian folklore: The Hut on Chicken Legs (Избушка на Курьих Ножках).
Cross-Hatch Shader
Maya
A cross-hatching shader that converts a 3D scene into a picture-book style illustration. Responsible for all aspects apart from the models shown in the scene. Scene Layout and lighting was done in Maya, while the shader was done using Arnold nodes.
Tim Burton's Teapot
Blender
One of my very first CG projects, yet still one of my favorites. The idea behind the project was to model the Utah Teapot in a Tim Burton-esque style. The fur portion of the teapot was inspired by Sully's fur in Monsters Inc. I have found this project to be one of the most divisive as it makes some people quite uncomfortable.
